The Barbados Threadsnake made headline news this week when it was declared the world's smallest snake, measuring less than 4 inches long and being thinner than a piece of spaghetti. Ok, that's interesting but does that alone make them more deserving of positive press than the island's green monkeys?
Sure, the slithering snake can curl up on the face of a quarter but the baby monkeys curl up on their mommy's bellies (which aren't too big either). Isn't that more of an physical feat and just WAY more cute than a snake on currency?
Since the monkeys seem to get only bad press by pissing off farmers and being the cause of an island-wide blackout in 2006 (and since I had never seen one in the wild before), I'm writing this post to give them a bit of positive press. After all, they make tourists like me happy, when they bounce around our picnic tables with
nearly balled babies clinging to their bellies. Now that is something to write home about or post on You Tube.
Oh and did I say, they're just SO damn cute? I hope they bring a smile to your face like they did for me.
